A Harrah’s casino project in Northern California required safe, reliable rooftop access for maintenance personnel. Rather than relying on a traditional ladder or switchback stairs, the customer wanted a safer stair configuration that would also make it easier to assist personnel down in an emergency.
CH Bull Company worked with the customer to develop a customized rooftop access solution using Kattsafe components. The project included design, concrete foundation preparation, custom powder coating, and installation.
The Challenge
The customer needed permanent rooftop access without relying on a traditional ladder. Beyond routine maintenance, the stair system needed to provide a safer way to assist personnel down from the roof in an emergency.
Several factors influenced the project:
- Provide safer access for maintenance personnel carrying tools and equipment.
- Avoid a traditional switchback stair configuration to make assisting someone down easier.
- Accommodate the building’s height and exterior conditions.

Designing the Rooftop Access System
CH Bull developed a custom rooftop access system using Kattsafe components. Rather than a traditional switchback configuration, the design uses a more direct stair layout with landings, making it easier to assist personnel down from an elevated area if needed.
The system was designed to accommodate the building’s height while providing convenient access for routine maintenance.
To complement the casino’s exterior, the stair components were powder-coated in a color selected to match the building.
